You can specify the default folder for the templates file by specifying the location at 3D Covers Preferences window.

To change the default folder, go to menu Image > Preferences and click on the Templates tab.

Now you can set the default folder by clicking the ... button.

The second option allows you to specify the file format the templates are saved into. All templates are stored in the Templates.tpl file located at the Templates folder.

Saving the template as JPG ensures smaller Template.tpl file size at the expense of its quality, but there won't be major image degradation anyway.

BMP format produces the largest Template.tpl file size.
