To check if your PC has been infected by spyware, follow the simple instructions below.

Start Spyware Detector by clicking the Start button at the bottom left of your Windows desktop. Select Programs and click on the "SpywareDetector" option in the list that is presented. Alternatively, you may wish to start Spyware Detector by double-clicking on a short cut on your Windows Desktop. First, the Tips window opens with a "Tip of the Day". Every time you open Spyware Detector, a new tip will be displayed with useful information on Spyware Detector. You can choose to read more than one tip by clicking on the "Next tip" button. If you don't wish to view the Tips window every time you start Spyware Detector, simply uncheck the checkbox before the "Show tips at startup" text.

When you are done with the Tips window, click on Close to open Spyware Detector.

The main window of Spyware Detector will open along with the "Scan Window" on top of it. There are three buttons on the Scan Window: Quick scan, Full Scan and Custom Scan. Click on the scan option you want to perform and scanning will start.

Quick Scan will scan for the current operating system only.

Full Scan will scan your complete PC including the operating system, program files as well as your files and documents. If your PC has more than one hard drive on it, you can select which hard drive you would like to scan in the Full Scan option. This is done by checking the appropriate checkbox before the hard drive letter (e.g., C:) in the Full Scan window.

When you are running the full scan for the first time the application maps the signatures first and so takes long time for scanning the PC for the first time, also it depends on the processor speed of the PC and the total Hard Drive space that you have. But if you try to do the full scan second time it will not take so long.

Rootkit Scan: Rootkit Scan is based on generic, heuristics scan. A rootkit is a set of software tools intended to hide running processes, files or system data from the operating system. A rootkit substitutes malicious code in place of legitimate Operating System routines. It does so in a highly stealth-like manner by turning off certain security routines. They are difficult to detect. Rootkits are difficult to clean as they ingranulate deeply within the Registry and system files.

Virus Scan: Virus Scan is a signature based virus detecting and repairing scan engine. Viruses insert their malicious code in the files of operating system and other installed software like Yahoo Messenger etc. Hence every subsequent execution of such virus code inserted file also does the malicious activity intended by the malicious code along with the file's usual activity. The virus scanner engine detects such inserted code in these files and removes them, thus the file gets repaired and can be used with no risk.

Custom Scan will scan only the selected locations by the user.

If you have an unregistered copy of Spyware Detector, then the following window will open after the scan is completed. You will be required to Register to delete the Spyware entries found on your PC. Click on Order Now button to register the Spyware Detector.

Clicking on the Order Now button opens Registration window, where you can fill your first name, last name, email address and the product registration number mailed to you by the company when you purchased Spyware Detector. If you click on Continue the main program window will open. There is a Register Now button provided in the main window of Spyware Detector at the top right that will help you Register Spyware Detector at any time.

If you click on Cancel the main program window will open. One of three buttons provided in this main window that will help you Buy, Register or Renew your copy of Spyware Detector.

By Clicking on Buy Now and follow the subsequent instructions you will be able to buy Spyware Detector. You will receive a product registration number by email after the purchase.

Once you register your copy of Spyware Detector, the Buy Now button will be replaced by a Tell a Friend button. If you click on this button and follow the subsequent instructions, you can tell a friend more about Spyware Detector by entering your friend's contact information. On this window, if you click on the Continue button, Spyware Detector will continue to Scan your PC for spyware. Note that any spyware detected will not be eliminated from your PC until you register Spyware Detector. If you click on the Order Now button, you will be taken to a website from where you can purchase the license. Email will be sent to you immediately after purchase with the registration number required to register the product.
