Download Prices Dialog
The Download Prices Dialog appears after you select the Download Prices. The Download Prices Dialog contains two tabbed pages. Each page requires filling the ending date for the quotes and various other collection options as explained below.
USA & Canada (Yahoo!) Page
- Used to download security price data from USA and Canada stock markets.
- Ticker Symbol. Type the ticker symbol for the security. See Ticker Symbols for information on ticker symbol formats.
- Start Date. Enter the first date you want to collect data for.
- End Date. The End Date controls how current the data will be.
- Normally, you should simply accept the default current date appearing in the box to receive the most up-to-date data available. However, if you want to collect a block of historical data, you may want to specify a different ending date. For example, if you want to collect data for the year 1992 only, you should enter Start Date of 01/01/92 and then enter an End Date of 12/31/92.
- Periodicity. Choose the desired periodicity for the security. Choose Daily if you want to maintain price data for each day that the security trades. Choose Weekly if you want to maintain price data for the security on a weekly basis (Friday to Friday). Choose Monthly if you want to maintain price data for the security on a monthly basis (month-end to month-end).
- Fields. Choose the output fields you want to be downloaded.
- Data direction. Choose direction of download of data. Choose From top to bottom if you want Start Date to be on the top, End Date to be on the bottom. Choose From bottom to top if you want Start Date to be on the bottom, End Date to be on the top.
- Date range. Choose manner of update of data. See How to use Date range option for more information on this subject.
- Beginning of data. Enter the reference for the upper-left cell of downloading data.
- Chart. Select to generate an embedded histogram chart with the downloaded data.
- ChartXL. Click to select a chart type you want to use. See Creating Charts – ChartXL for information about this subject.
Europe (Stockwatch) Page
Used to download historical price data of any stock, available on the European Stock Exchanges, supported by the DownloaderXL. (For the list of European Stock Exchanges, supported by the DownloaderXL see Stock Exchanges).
- WPKN. Type WPKN for the security, you want. See WPKN for information on symbol formats.
- Stock Exchange. Choose Stock Exchange from which you want to download price data. Click to show in the Stock Exchanges list, only exchanges that trade WPKN, you typed.
- Periodicity. Choose the desired periodicity for the security. Choose Daily if you want to maintain price data for each day that the security trades. Choose Weekly if you want to maintain price data for the security on a weekly basis (Friday to Friday). Choose Monthly if you want to maintain price data for the security on a monthly basis (month-end to month-end).
- Fields. Choose the output fields you want to be downloaded.

USA (Dreyfus) Page
- Symbol. Type the ticker symbol for the security. See Ticker Symbols for information on ticker symbol formats.
- Number of Days. Enter the number of days (5-360) to display. (Prices are maintained for three years.
- Fields. Choose the output fields you want to be downloaded.
- Data direction. Choose direction of download of data. Choose From top to bottom if you want Start Date to be on the top, End Date to be on the bottom. Choose From bottom to top if you want Start Date to be on the bottom, End Date to be on the top.
- Beginning of data. Enter the reference for the upper-left cell of downloading data.
- Chart. Select to generate an embedded histogram chart with the downloaded data.
