Browse Window
IvanView’s image browser provides you with much of the functionality of Explorer. In addition to managing your images, you can perform commands on image files.

Toolbar - provides buttons to activate commands.
The toolbar, located at the top of the view window below the menu bar, consists of a number of small buttons identified by icons.
- To activate a command, click on the corresponding button with the primary mouse button.
- To get a short description of the function of each button, rest the mouse cursor over the button.
- You can show or hide the toolbar with the View | Toolbar menu command
Status bar - displays status information and properties for selected files.
The status bar, located at the bottom of the view window, displays status information and properties for the current image (number and size of images in the current folder, filename, file size, image size, file description)
You can show or hide the status bar with the View | Status Bar menu command.
Path box - specifies the path of the current folder.
The path box, located between above the file list, specifies the current folder being browsed. You can enter a different path to browse the specified folder. The path box also has a drop-down list of recently used folders. You can browse any recently used folder by selecting it from the list.
File list - displays the files within the current folder.
Folder tree - displays the folders hierarchy of your file system.
The folder tree, located on the left side of the browse window, displays the folders of your file system as a tree. Whenever you select a file system folder in the folder tree, it is designated as the current folder and its contents appear in the file list to the right.· If a folder contains subfolders, a [+] appears next to the folder icon. You can expand the folder to show the subfolders by clicking on the [+]. You can collapse a folder to hide its subfolders by clicking on the [-].
Preview area - displays the currently selected image.
You can select an area of the image by dragging with the primary mouse button. If you click in the view area with the secondary mouse button, a context menu will appear.
Navigation
- You can navigate through your file system by clicking on folders and drives.
- The path for the current folder you are inside is shown in the box just below the tool bar.
- Context menus are available by clicking with the alternate mouse button in the file list.
