Convert the ID3v2.3 tags in all or just selected files from tag version ID3v2.3 to tag version ID3v2.4. If specific files (rows) are selected in the Main Editor, only those selected are converted. If no files are selected, it is assumed that all v2.3 files are to be converted.
Tags at version ID3v2.4 are unsynchronized on a frame by frame basis, as needed, whereas all frames in ID3v2.3 tags have unsynchronization applied (see heading Unsynchronization in topic Preferences for further information about Unsynchronization). Only tags at version ID3v2.4 support the "Musicians Credits" list (shown in Editor 2 in column "Musicians"), where tags at version ID3v2.3 do not. Be aware also that, as of the time of this writing, few tag editors and other applications that edit or use ID3v2 tags support the newer ID3v2.4 tag standard. Thus, tags converted to this standard will not be usable in some programs.

Rating to MusicMatch Rating
Access: Menu > MP3 > Rating to MusicMatch Rating, <Ctrl+Alt+5>
Converts MP3 Popularimeter ratings (range 1-255) and/or M4A/MP4 ratings (range 1-100) into MusicMatch ratings (range 1-5), and stores them in the MusicMatch Rating field (column heading "MM Rating"). All ratings are shown in the Editor as one- to five-star ratings ("*" to "* * * * *"). Number ranges refer to the values stored internally in specific tag types to represent these ratings. Operates on all or just selected files.
Some background information about ratings:
In MP3's, rating information is stored in one of three sub-fields enclosed by the ID3v2 Popularimeter frame (which also houses an email address and a playcount). Program MusicMatch creates a rating frame from an ordinary Comment frame, giving it a unique description field ("MusicMatch_Preference") so that it can be distinguished from other Comment frames. In M4A's and MP4's, Apple has pre-defined a rating frame with an atom identifier of "rtng," and this is where Tag Clinic stores rating information for these file types. Tunes does not store its own rating information there, however, but instead stores it in its library file. Program Tag & Rename defines its own rating atom for M4A's and MP4's, which it identifies as "rati," and Tag Clinic will look for a rating in this field if it can't find one in the iTunes "rtng" field. In addition, when storing a rating, it will copy a rating it puts in "rtng" into the "rtng" field also.
