Custom Alerts
To change the preferences for the Custom Alerts, select the menu:
- File, Preferences, or click on the Preferences button in the File toolbar (a red screwdriver)
- Then choose the Custom Alerts tab
Two different kinds of alerts are available:
- Individual Up and Down events. This is the same information that you find in the Event log file. Each Up or Down event triggers an alert.
- Run this external program: Give the location and program name that you want to run, and specify one or several of these parameters:
| $T$ |
Date and Time |
| $CR$ |
New Line |
| $M$ |
MAC Address |
| $A$ |
TCP/IP Address |
| $Y$ |
Node Type |
| $D$ |
SNMP System Description |
| $B$ |
NetBIOS Name |
| $O$ |
NetBIOS Domain |
| $C$ |
SNMP Contact |
| $I$ |
SNMP Location |
- Network Status Summary : this allows you to send grouped information on node status. After checking all the nodes in the map, it contains the summary of which nodes are DOWN, STILL DOWN or UP AGAIN.
Run this external program: Give the location and program name that you want to run, and specify one the two available parameters:
| $L$ |
Long Message |
| $S$ |
Short Message |
$L$ represents a text containing all the information that you defined in the Message Editor, with the Summary Custom Alerts template selected.
$S$ is the same as $L$, but truncated to 150 characters. The rest of the message is lost.
- Send the alert _ times: Specify the number of messages that are sent for a specific event. If a node is DOWN and you entered 3, a maximum of 3 messages are sent. If another DOWN event happens meanwhile, the count is reset.
0 means send continuously.
