Orphaned ActiveX Entries

Like COM/OLE objects, ActiveX objects are files that are used to make special functions available to the system. Active-X files have the extension OCX (*.OCX). Unlike OLE/COM objects they can also be accessed and used by applications like Internet browsers.

Since ActiveX objects are files they can be moved or deleted, and it is also possible for the registry entries referencing them to contain incorrect path information. If any of these situations arises it becomes impossible to find the ActiveX files, effectively making them useless to the system until a new entry is added to the registry referencing the correct paths, if they are available.

Activating this option tells Registry Optimizer to find orphaned references to ActiveX objects in the registry and present them for deletion.
