Recover Files or Passwords
Recover Deleted Files
This PC Surgeon function uses low level disk routines to find files that have been deleted from the recycle bin and file system. Usually these files are unrecoverable however this function attempts to reconstruct the files based on available fragments and data left on your disk.
When you select this function you will see a list of all local disks in your system. If a disk has a valid FAT32 or NTFS partition there will be a '+' next to the disk name. Click on the '+' to build a list of all valid partitions that can be examined for deleted files.
When you select a partition click on the "SCAN" button to start the process of examining each File Table Entry and Sector for a file fragment. The process of examining a whole disk can take a long time but each file that is found is added to the list, so you can use the "Cancel" button to stop the scan at any time.
Password Recovery
The password recovery function provides 2 methods of retrieving Windows passwords.
- Reveal passwords hidden by '****' fields in Windows programs.
- Interrogate the Windows secure database for passwords.
