Command Line Options

This table lists all of the command line options supported by the various SafeHouse utilities. Not all programs support all options. Please refer to the reference pages for the individual options and executables to find out which options are supported by specific utilities.

Command Option	Description
/AUTOEXPAND	Specifies how full a volume must be before it is expanded.
/AUTOSHRINK	Specifies a threshold for automatically shrinking a volume.
/AUTOSIZENOTIFY	Specified if the user is notified when a volume will be expanded.
/CHANGEPASSWORD	Identifies the filename for a volume to change passwords.
/CREATE	Identifies the name of a volume to be created.
/CREATE (for Setup)	Instruct the custom setup program to launch the create volume wizard.
/DESCRIPTION	Specifies the long name description of a volume being created.
/DRIVE	Specifies the DOS drive letter associated with a volume.
/ENCRYPTION	Specifies the encryption method.
/EXPANDABLETO	Specifies the maximum expansion limit of a volume.
/EXPANDVOLUME	Identifies the filename for a volume to have its size increased.
/EXPIRES	Specifies the number of days between forced password changes.
/EXPLORE	Launch Explorer window for volume after opening a volume.
/FILESYSTEM	Specifies the hard drive format internal to a volume.
/FINISH	Complete command without user interaction if possible.
/FORCE	Force a volume to close even though some files may be open.
/GO	Automatically begin processing command without user interaction if possible.
/GRACE	Specifies the grace period on forced password changes.
/LOCKDOWN	Instructs activity monitor to trigger its configured action.
/MAP	Open a volume.
/MAXPASSWORD	Sets the maximum length of a volume password.
/MINPASSWORD	Sets the minimum length of a volume password.
/NEWPASSWORD	Specifies a new password.
/PASSWORD	Specifies a current password.
/QUICKCREATE	Force rapid create mode. Do not fill volume with random data.
/QUICKEXPAND	Force rapid expand mode. Do not fill volume with random data.
/READONLY	Force read-only mode when opening a volume.
/REMOVABLE	Open volume as removable drive instead of fixed disk.
/RUN	Suppress user interface on activity monitor.
/SETUP	Indicates command invoked from SafeHouse installer.
/SHELL	Informs a utility that it is being invoked from the Explorer shell.
/SHORTCUT	Force or prevent creating a desktop shortcut to open the volume.
/SHOWVOLUME	Displays properties about a volume.
/SILENT	Complete command silently in background.
/SILENT (for Setup)	Run custom setup program without a visual interface.
/SIZE	Specifies the size of a volume.
/SOUND	Enables use of WAV sound support
/STOP	Remove the respective utility from memory.
/SUSPEND	Instructs activity monitor to put open volumes into suspended state.
/UNMAP	Close one or more currently-open SafeHouse volumes.
/USEPASSWORDDLL	Use a custom DLL API to get the password instead of dialog box.
/WINSTART	Instructs tray utility that it is being started along with Windows.

Boolean Values

All parameters which require a boolean state value such as ON or OFF will also accept 1, 0, Y, N, Yes, No, True or False.

Missing Passwords

In most cases, all SafeHouse utilities which require passwords to be specified will prompt the user to enter any passwords not supplied on the command line. However, if /SILENT is specified and password(s) are missing, execution will terminate in error.
