Glossary
Agent Identification
Sets the browser-identification string WebCloner should send to web servers when requesting pages. Many websites choose to serve different sets of pages depending on this string received from the browser, so this setting may reflect on the layout of downloaded pages. Choosing one of the browser types and versions in the combo will determine these web sites to deliver pages optimized for that particular browser. Advanced users may also enter a custom identification string to be sent by WebCloner. This property is available in Settings > Internet > Connection.
AutoSave
By default WebCloner is auto saving the content of opened download projects (.web files) on your hard drive every three minutes. You can change the interval between Auto-Saving operations or you can disable this option altogether in Properties > Project > Save & Security . The “Auto save” dialog is automatically closed after 30 seconds if you don’t take any action. To help you identify which project is about to be saved, the AutoSave dialog will also display some of the project details, such as its Start URLs, Project Title and the name of the web file which will be updated.
Bookmarks
You can bookmark pages you have already saved offline or pages you have not saved yet. The bookmarks are useful when you want to create an index of the most important pages in a download project for easier acces later, or in relation with the advanced indexing options in the Export modules.
CHM
The current standard format of Windows help files. For example, the file you are viewing now is in CHM format. Among its advantages are the portability and the ability to index, navigate and search data.
Cookies
Small text files websites can place in a special folder on your PC. Some sites may choose to return different content depending on the values they read from these cokies. Leave the "Use Microsoft Internet Explorer Cookies" checkbox selected in Settings > Internet > Connection to have WebCloner accept cookies from the sites it downloads and return them in the headers it sends back. When this option is not used, dynamic sites that use cookies may appear different after downloading.
Compiler
Before using WebCloner's CHM Export feature, please make sure a valid Microsoft Help Workshop compiler (hhc.exe) is selected in the Settings > Advanced > Export > Compiler textbox. This is a free tool provided by Microsoft Corporation. You can either have WebCloner search your hard drive automatically for you or download it and install it yourself.
Connection Timeout
Sets how many seconds should WebCloner wait before deciding to quit downloading a file. You can set this property separately for each download project in its Properties > Threading & Resources dialog.

Internal Browser
The browser window integrated in WebCloner that allows you to browse the Internet and start various downloading tasks, but also to browse offline the pages that you have downloaded.
Internet Explorer Integration
When this option is enabled in Settings > Advanced > Integration , WebCloner-related functions are added to Internet Explorer. You can read more about each of them in Adding one or more files to a download project.
Level
Sets how deep should WebCloner navigate in a site structure to retrieve files. If you set the level to 0, only the first page will be followed, level 1 will retrieve the first page and all the pages linked directly in it (e.g scripts, images) and so on.
Links Ready List
This list displays the pages already downloaded.
Local Access
Check "Allow local access only" in Settings > Internet > Connection to prevent other computers from your network from accessing the offline sites in your opened projects. When this option is not checked, any computer in your network can share the data in your projects. This can turn WebCloner in a powerful tool for sharing data in your organization, but you can choose to disable it anytime, for privacy or security reasons.
Monitor Clipboard
Enable this feature in Settings > Advanced > Integration to allow WebCloner to check if relevant links are copied to the Windows clipboard and present you options for starting new download projects. E.G.: Select and copy a valid URL from Internet Explorer's Address Bar (although this works for any valid URL you copy into the Clipboard). The WebCloner "Select Destination Project" Wizard will pop up.
Password Protection
You can choose a password to protect the WebCloner Download Project (.web) file that stores this project's data in Properties > Save & Security.
Pop-Up Blocker
WebCloner includes a built-in pop-ups blocker that allows you to avoid the opening of annoying ad windows while you're browsing. The Pop-up blocker can be enabled/disabled anytime by clicking on it.
Process Priority
You can change the way each download project uses the computer resources by changing the Process Priority in its Properties > Project > Threading & Resources dialog. If you have a slower computer or if you want WebCloner to run in the background while you're using resource-intensive programs, choose "The thread executes only when the system is idle." settings in Process Priority. This will force WebCloner to run just when the computer is idle. Change this value to a upper value if you want to get your download done faster.
Project Tree
Displays all the files WebCloner has found while downloading this download project. Right click to see a list of available options for manipulating the links/files in this tree.
Properties
Configure here the settings, filters and options of the selected download project. Find out more about this in the Properties Dialog

Ready Links Tree
An optional filter for the Project Tree, that can be used to only browse the resources WebCloner has already downloaded. You can enable it when starting a new download project (from the 'More' sub-dialog) or anytime later from the Properties > Threading & Resources dialog of the project (WebCloner Professional only). Note that the filter will only work for files downloaded after it was enabled (the Ready Links Tree of a project will not be built backwards for all the existing download when you enable this option in the Properties dialog).
Retries On Failed
Sets how many times should WebCloner try to retrieve a file before deciding to quit downloading it. You can set this property separately for each download project in its Properties > Threading & Resources dialog.
Ready List
Shows the files retrieved by WebCloner in the current download project. You can right-click on any file to browse it, to locate it in the Project Tree or to delete it.
Settings Dialog
This window lets you set up general options and settings of WebCloner, that apply to all download projects. For more on this, go to the Settings area of the WebCloner Help file.
Start URL
The single link or one of the links WebCloner uses as a starting point for its downloads. Once you set up one or more start URLs and begin a download project, WebCloner will start analyzing those web pages and will download them, the pages they link to and so on, according to the various filters and settings of the download project. You can add, edit or remove Start URLs from a project when starting it, or anytime later - from its Properties > General dialog. Please note that adding or editing Start URLs while a project is downloading could alter the behaviour of download threads started by the project from other URLs. For example, from the moment you add a new start URL it will be taken into consideration by various filters such as the File Location Filter - this will lead to an increase or a decrease in the number of files the filter accepts or rejects.
Performance Tip: using a large number of Start URLs will lead to decreases of WebCloner's performance, so you may want to consider limiting this number in concordance with the resources available to your computer.
Tasks Combo
Click this submenu on the toolbar of WebCloner's internal browser window to select common tasks while surfing on the Net. Options include:
"Add this page link to current project" - Moves the page to the Queue list of the project
"Add current page link to any project..." - Allows you to create or select a project and add the page to its Start URLs list
"Add recently visited page links to any project... " - Allows you to select one or more items recently viewed in the internal browser and use them as starting points for your downloads.
Tags Recognition Mode
Dynamic sites often offer different, database-pulled content on a page depending on the input parameters. For example, the page "showcategory.asp?category=A" might display the contents of the category A, whereas "showcategory.asp?category=B" might display the contents of category B. You can set Tags Recognition to Basic Mode or Aggresive Mode in the Properties > Tags Sensibility section of each project. Use the Aggresive Mode option to save different instances of a page depending on the GET parameters, and the Basic Mode to only save a page the first time it is retrieved, regardless of its parameters. The default (and recommended) setting is Aggresive Mode.
Threads
You can change the way each download project uses the computer resources by changing the number of threads it can use - in its Properties > Project > Threading & Resources dialog. Choose a smaller number of threads if have a slower computer or if you want WebCloner to run in background while you are working on something else.
