Project
General
- Project name
Choose a distinctive title for this project. The name will appear in the Open Projects navigation bar (below the main WebCloner toolbar) and in the Project Details panel displayed when you click on a project icon in the Recent Downloaded Project list.
- Level
Choose how deep should WebCloner navigate in a site structure to retrieve files. If you set the level to 0, only the first page will be followed, level 1 will retrieve the first page and all the pages linked directly in it and so on.
- Start URL(s)
The Start URLs you have entered when creating the project and while it was running will appear here. Although you can always add more starting URLs to a project - even after starting it - the newly added will be taken into consideration only for items downloaded inside this project after you save the Properties settings. E.G.: The Folder Filter will start taking into consideration the newly added URLs when deciding which files to keep based on their domain name, parent directory and so on.
- Description
You can edit here a description of the project to help you easily identify it later. You can view the description of a WebCloner download project by moving your mouse over it in the Recent Downloaded Projects - without having to open each project separately.
Threading & Resources
Threads Parameters
Use the settings in this section to fine-tweak the performance of WebCloner:
- If you have a slower computer or if you want WebCloner to run in the background while you're using resource-intensive programs, choose lower settings in Process Priority and Threads Number.
- If you have a slow or instable connection, use higher values on the Connection Timeout and Retries on Fail values.
Advanced
- WebCloner Professional can build lists containing the files it was able to retrieve and the links that failed to be loaded. It can also create and mantain a list of all the e-mail addresses it finds on the parsed web pages - you can use it as a stand-alone e-mail extractor software if you wish to.
(available in WebCloner Professional only)
- Build Ready Links Tree
A new list will become available to you in the Project Tree. You will be able to toggle between viewing All links and Ready links by choosing these options in the select box at the top of the Project Tree panel.
- Build Ignored Links List
An "Ignored" list will become available in the Links Area at the bottom of the screen. You will be able to view the URLs of all the files WebCloner skipped in the download process, along with the reason why the page was not downloaded and the URL of the page where its link was found. Choosing to build Ignored Links lists is a great way to accomodate yourself in the beginning with WebCloner's filters, as it allows you to discover what filter setting or exclusion option caused a certain files not to be downloaded. It can also help you when you're trying to achieve very accurate "clones" of sites, showing all the files that were not retrieved. You can simply right-click a file in the Ignored list and choose "Add to queue" to have WebCloner download it for you.
- Build Emails List
An list of email addresses retrieved from the parsed web pages will be shown in the Links Area. You can later use WebCloner's "Export E-mails" function to make use of them outside the application.
- You can also select the types of lists that you want to be created when starting a project (by clicking the More... button at the bottom of the new Project dialog). You will then be able to modify your selection anytime later by using this Advanced option in the Properties dialog.
Save & Security
By default, WebCloner is set up to auto-save downloaded items on your harddisk once per minute. You can modify this interval and choose to be notified or not before each auto-save.
You can enable/disable this feature separately for each project - simply uncheck/check it in the Properties Window of a project or in the AutoSave Confirmation prompt that appears before each AutoSave operation.
- Password Protection
You can select here a password to protect the WebCloner Download Project (.web) file that stores this project's data.
